Information on pathways

Ensure that new patients are given information about what treatment and services they can expect when they are newly diagnosed, how they work and how to access them.  Inform existing patients when services change.  The information needs to be in a form that is readily accessible to patients so that they can check at any time if they are uncertain about something.

Why the contribution is important

The range of treatment and services can be confusing when first diagnosed so information can be both reassuring and avoid the need to go back to ask questions.

No help at all if patients have depression or mental health issues as it’s too much to read anything!
How could they act on things if they are in bed isolated and no support.
Without support from a person going round the ill person just becomes sicker!
